QP sets up testing & research laboratory in compliance with international standards
The testing and research laboratory is set up in the QP Dongguan factory with an objective to provide our customers with comprehensive, fast, scientific and internationally accredited product testing on both incoming materials and final products. QP is among a few printing companies in China to have open a professional laboratory in compliance with international standards.
The new laboratory is operated in strict accordance with ISO17025 and is managed by experienced engineers and chemists who completed a formal training under the ISO17025 system. All the instruments, test guide and SOP are in line with international laboratory common practices. The 7,000-sq.ft setup houses an array of sophisticated instruments, which include GC-MS, ICP-AES, UV, XRF and an environmental conditioning testing room. The laboratory can provide comprehensive services including chemical analytical tests, physical and durability tests, as well as product risk assessment.
Environmental protection and product safety is not merely a social topic but has been posing challenges to manufacturers nowadays. Product research and testing has become a process indispensable in order to ensure producing a much more safe and greener product. However, the process may not be yielding to customer expectation, as it can be very time-consuming and pricey with the fact that many laboratories are overloaded with jobs. The immediately available service provided by an in-house laboratory like QP's creates an alternative; therefore, a value-added service to our customers.
Simon Chan, Director of Product Integrity said, "Our laboratory is operated independently from the manufacturing units to make sure the reports we generate are fair without biases. Our customers can count on us for our professional consultation, quick turn around time, cost-saving and reliable risk assessment and testing services."
Chemical safety and material composition are a major focus of our work. The chemical tests which we carry out, conform to international material safety standard for toys, packaging and food contact e.g. EN-71 part 3, ASTM F963, CONEG, CSA, RoHS, PHTH, PBA, just to name a few. The physical tests we conduct also comply with ASTM D series, ISTA test procedures, GB and FTD standards. So far few of our counterparts in China have a laboratory comparable in scale and operating in accordance with international standards.
QP is a member of ISTA (International Safety Transmit Association). We target to become an internationally certified laboratory with plans to obtain the ISTA, CNAS (China National Accreditation Scheme) and UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Scheme) accreditation by 2009.
